Our Story

Chances for Children originated in 2000 as a partnership between Mallee Family Care and the then three water authorities. Chances has evolved over the years and is now a community partnership in every sense of the word.

More commonly known as “Chances” we are a funding body focused on providing financial support to recipients, who without our help, may not have the opportunity to pursue their education or realise their talents in sport or the arts.

We tailor funding to each individual recipient, to give them the best chance for success.

We are proud to be able to say that to date Chances has provided mentoring and financial support for over 1,810 children and young people from our region to the tune of over $4.66M. This is an acheivement that we are justifiably proud of and would not be possible without the support and generousity of our community.

Chances for Children is a community funded program, both financially and by in-kind contributions. Our support can include financial assistance for the costs of studying at University and TAFE; the cost of training, equipment and competition for talented athletes and providing support to families with a child with specific learning requirements.

With patrons, supporters and life members spanning every sector of our community, Chances has become recognised as a valuable contributor to the lives and futures of young people living in north west Victoria and south west New South Wales.
